Torremolinos Half Marathon - Sunday, 1st February 2026 Race Report - Alan Wylie
Collected goodie bag/race number eventually after waiting in a massive queue for well over a hour.
On Race Day, the sun shone brightly, handed in my bag 1 hr before race at 9.30 am.
( funnily enough, a queue soon developed a short time later for runners to also drop off bags).
Many runners struggled to get to the start area.
I was actually asked by Spanish runners where the start area was, such was the lack of signage /information.
I spotted a 1hr 30 min pacer, followed him round to the other side of the Pablo Picasso cultural centre & lo & behold, found the start area.
Once the run started, it was quite congested the 1st few kms, which took you out of the town & tackled some steep gradients.
Around the 10k mark, the route winds its way down to the promenade to 11k sign.
11 to 17 k is a long, long stretch parallel to the beach.
( just before 14k, my wife Janet cheered me on, a great boost ).
The last 2k are a series of steep, uphill sections which i'm proud to say kept running all the way.
Finally, I crossed the finishing line in 1hr 59 mins & 4 seconds.
It took me 90 mins to collect my clothes bag, a jogged back to our accommodation.
As a one-off the half marathon was ok, albeit poorly organised.
There were just less than 2,000 runners, including large Irish contingent, plus group in blue and red colours from Warrington Roadrunners.
Heard " Lancaster " shouted out 7 times, very encouraging.
17 Euros - entry fee.
Medal, t-shirt, cap, belt, gel, small bottle of virgin oil, bandanda, excellent value.
Next year ?
Almeria half marathon, mid April
